For casting, cast iron, cast steel and castings will have a requirement for carbon. As the name suggests, carburizing agent is to increase the carbon content in molten iron.Using pig iron, scrap and return charge are commonly smelting,however the carbon content of pig iron is high, but the purchase price is one section higher than that of scrap.Therefore, increase the amount of scrap and reduce the amount of pig iron, adding carburizing agent can reduce the casting cost to a certain extent.

Type of Carburant:
According to the casting application,there are few types:nodular Iron carburizer, gray iron carburizer,cast steel carburizer and special steel carburizer.
- Ductile iron suitable for the high carbon and low sulfur products with graphitized carburizing agent as carburizing agent, and the sulfur content is strictly low, which is generally as follows: s: ≤ 0.1%, s: ≤ 0.05%;
- The main technical index difference between gray iron carburizing agent and nodular iron carburizing agent lies in the control of sulfur. The general index requirement is s: ≤ 0.5%;
- The types of carburizing agents for steel casting (steelmaking) are complex. Generally, large steel plants will choose a variety of carburizing agents according to different steel grades, but the general materials are calcined coal and graphite particles or graphite balls, and natural graphite fragments,with the content ranging from 75% to 99%.
Fixed carbon and ash content are two opposite parameters in the carburizer,and they are also two important parameters affecting the carburizing efficiency.So when the fixed carbon content is high and ash content is low,the carburizing efficiency is high, otherwise, the carburizing efficiency is low.
HOW TO USE of carburizers:
1. Adding in furnace
We can adjust the amount of carburizing agent according to the carbon content of molten steel (iron) during proportioning,and the carbon absorption rate can reach 90-99% when you add the metal charge to the the electric furnace.
2. Carbon increase in later stage
After smelt molten steel (iron), you can add a small amount of carbon to the surface of the molten steel (iron). The carburizer can be dissolved and absorbed by the eddy current stirring of the molten steel (iron) during electric furnace melting and the carbon absorption rate is 80-95%.

Cylindrical carburizing agent
Cylindrical carburizing agent, mainly used in casting, production of ordinary cast iron, gray cast iron.
According to the market feedback in the past two years, from the beginning of the manufacturers trying to use cylindrical carburizer to the past two years, the amount of use has been rising. Many manufacturers respond that under the premise of good use effect, the production cost can be effectively reduced, It is favored by many foundries.
Suitable for large furnace,the bigger the furnace, the better the melting effect and the higher the absorption rate,according to customer feedback, the absorption rate can reach 90%.
Chemical specification: fixed carbon: 92-95%, sulfur content: 0.05-0.1%;
Particle size : 1-5mm.
HOW TO USE of Cylindrical carburizing agent:
1. Adding in furnace
The amount of carburizing agent is adjusted according to the carbon content of molten steel (iron) during proportioning. The carbon absorption rate can reach 90-99% when the metal charge is added to the lower part of the middle part of the electric furnace.
2. Carbon increase in later stage
After the molten steel (iron) is melted, a small amount of carbon can be added to the surface of the molten steel (iron). The carburizer can be dissolved and absorbed by the eddy current stirring of the molten steel (iron) during electric furnace melting. The carbon absorption rate is 80-95%.
Graphite Petroleum Coke & Calcined Petroleum Coke
Using high quality low sulfur petroleum coke as raw material, produced by graphitization process, it is used for carburization of various electric furnace melting cast steel and cast iron. It has high purity, excellent particle morphology and graphitized hexagonal crystal structure. It not only plays the role of carburization, but also promotes the inoculation and nucleation of cast iron, improves graphite morphology, increases the number of graphite balls, and improves the mechanical properties and processing properties of materials. According to the sulfur content, it can be divided into three levels: low sulfur, medium sulfur and high sulfur.
Chemical specification: fixed carbon: 98-99%, sulfur content: 0.05-0.2%;
Particle size : 1-5mm/1-3mm/0-3mm
HOW TO USE of Graphite Petroleum Coke/Calcined Petroleum Coke:
1. Place the carburizer in the middle and lower part of the electric furnace. That is to say, after a small part of iron charge is placed in the furnace to melt it (or a small amount of hot metal is left on the furnace), the required metal charge is added, and the carburizing agent is fully pressed into the hot metal to make the carburizing agent fully contact with the hot metal.
2. During the absorption period of carburizer, slag removal operation of hot metal should be avoided to prevent carburizer from being taken out of the furnace with slag.
3. It is suggested that the recycled material or pig iron should be added after the carburizing agent is removed.
4. Before the hot metal is discharged from the furnace, a small amount of carburizing agent can be added to the surface of the hot metal for micro carbon transfer, and the carburizing agent can be dissolved and absorbed by eddy current stirring or manual stirring.
5. Increasing silicon and sulfur should be carried out after the absorption of carburizer.
Calcined coal carburizing agent/Calcined anthracite
With high quality anthracite as raw material, the direct current calciner is used to calcine at high temperature above 2000 ℃
In addition to the moisture and volatile matter in coal, it improves the density and conductivity of anthracite, enhances the mechanical strength and oxidation resistance, and has good characteristics of low ash content and high density.
